Abs Light
What does the abs light mean.
Abs light. You just have to take extra precaution while you drive unless the abs light is accompanied by other warning signs such as the brake lights that makes it very risky. Your vehicle may not handle stopping on slippery surfaces like it is designed to under heavy braking. One of the systems being monitored is the abs which stands for the anti lock braking system. However you can still drive the car if the abs system is not working but with a slight risk.
Most abs systems are real time so when a code has been triggered and then repaired the code should clear itself within a few minutes of driving. I would get the code scanned at a mechanic to know for sure. What the abs light means. Anti lock braking system light.
The system can then use the brakes to keep the vehicle under control during slippery situations. The abs monitors the wheels to make sure they are all turning at approximately the same speed. The abs light in your car or truck is a dash warning light that is specifically tied into the anti lock brake system. It could be a faulty wheel sensor faulty abs ring a wiring issue or just a blown fuse.
If both your abs light and brake system light come on this is an emergency and you need to stop driving right away. A persistent abs light could mean a problem with the wheel speed sensor or abs module. These lights are usually amber in color although they can also be yellow orange or even red in some applications. Be aware that while the abs light is on the anti lock brake system may not function if you were to slam on your brakes causing one or more tires to lock up.
Driving with the abs warning light on is not a good idea because it means your abs is not working properly.
